I started playing guitar some 8 years ago. All this time has been like a roller coaster ride experience to me. There were days when I was happily playing all day long and times when I just hated it. Nothing is hundred percent good or bad and so wasn't my guitar learning experience.
The reason why I started learning it was simple - necessity. In tenth grade I had to choose one of the creative lessons that were offered in my school. There were couple of options like theater, choir, orchestra etc. The so called orchestra seemed least harmful to me so I joined that. It was basically the school's band. To be honest during the first year I went to just a couple of lessons and avoided playing any concert I had to. In short - I hated it a lot.
When I finished school I noticed how my willingness to play guitar returned. Even though I hated attending orchestra, I learned a few valuable lessons along the way. If you really want to learn it fast you have to choose it yourself. It has to be your own decision and not somebody else's request. That way your mind won't be clouded with negative thoughts and contradictions. At least that's my own observation and you have full rights to disagree. If it was my own voluntary choice I'm sure I'd be a much better player than I'm now.
The easiest way to learn something fast is to learn it for yourself and be dedicated to it!
